Abstract: Uterine inversion is a serious life-threatening condition which can lead to PPH, shock and maternal death. The diagnosis of puerperal uterine inversion is mainly clinical. It is based on three elements: haemorrhage, shock and a strong pelvic pain. Treatment of acute uterine inversion involves immediate resuscitation, antibiotic therapy and uterine repositioning. Uterine repositioning can be achieved non- surgically by manual repositioning of the uterine fundus or by surgical intervention. Inversion of uterus can be prevented by active management of third stage of labour.
